5 Easiest 14ers in Colorado!
Ever wanted to hike one of the 53 14ers in Colorado?? Love seeing your friends on the peak and wanted to be in the pic!! We ll LuvByrd has you covered. There are several 14ers close to Denver and Boulder, we've hook you up with the 5 easiest!
1. Mount Bierstadt- Standing at 14,060 Mt. Bierstadt is the 38th tallest of the Colorado 14ers. Located west of Guanella Pass, 11 miles up the hill from Georgetown, Bierstadt make this an easy drive from Denver and Boulder. Best to get here early, crowds here start lining up around 9am, so we suggest starting around 5am which gives you an amazing experience seeing the sun rise over the mountains as you make your way to your first summit!!
2. Quandary Peak- This beast stands at 14,265 making it the 13th highest 14er. The hike is 6 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 3,100 feet which is sure to put you to the test! The beauty of Quandary is you can turn this summit into a fun weekend at Breckenridge since it s about 6miles from town. 3. Torreys Peak and Grays Peak- Here you get a two for one deal! You can hike each separately, but being that they re so close to each other, we suggest taking them both on in one trip! 9 miles and 3000 vertical feet, this is a great deal for tagging two summits. Located 40 miles west of Denver this becomes a pretty popular spot. Torreys stands at 14,274 making it the 12th highest and Grays 10th at 14,278! 4. Mount Massive- That it is, Mt Massive is the second highest at a towering 14,428 feet. Even though it s the second highest this mountain has some of the easiest trials to the summit. Be prepared though, this is a long one taking you 13.6 miles round trip and an elevation gain of 4000 feet. This is a wilderness area please abide all the wilderness regulations. Mount Elbert- If getting the second highest isn t enough for you, then bag this one; cause it s the highest of them all standing 14,440 feet high in the sky! This one gives you some serious bragging rights, because this hike takes you 9 miles round trip and nearly 5000 feet of vertical gain! This will be a challenge so be sure your prepared and start early! Like 2 am early!!
